The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Hong Kong Younger
Members Exhibition and Conference (YMEC) 2009 is an exhibition and conference,
where students from tertiary institutions and secondary schools, as well as
young professionals from the industry present their projects or papers. The
judges are experts from various academic and industrial fields. Participants of
all engineering related disciplines are welcome and the best teams in all
sections will be awarded.
The main objectives of the event are to enhance young professionals’
understanding and interests in engineering and its contribution and to provide a
platform for young professionals to exchange ideas with university professors
and students, as well as other professional engineers. The competition will
result in the selection of a delegate that will represent Hong Kong in the Asia
Pacific Region PATW.
The Young Members Exhibition and Conference (YMEC) has now been renamed as PATW
(Present Around The World). The event is arranged entirely by the Younger
Members Section of the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology). The
event is to offer the opportunity for students, graduates or young engineers to
present their engineering projects and ideas. It is not limited to only
engineering disciplines, but is open to anything of relevance to engineering in
general.
Each participant has the opportunity to do a presentation on their project,
which should last for up to ten minutes. This is then followed by a question and
answer session that should last no longer than five minutes. There are five
separate sections, consisting of secondary schools, sub degrees, undergraduates,
postgraduates and industry. The winner from each of these sections has the
chance to be part of the regional final, the Asia Pacific Region PATW.
Awards
For each section:
1. Champion – HK$1000 cash prize, trophy & certificate
2. 1st runner-up – HK$500 cash prize, trophy & certificate
Overall:
1. Overall Champion – Chance to be nominated to join the "Asia Pacific Engineers
Conference" in Beijing in September 2009
2. My favourite booth award – HK$300 cash prize & certificate
All participants will receive a certificate of recognition.

professional judges will be final.
